Shield Cores come in White, Blue, Purple, and Red tiers, providing 2, 3, 4, and 5 shield bars respectively. They must be combined with Refined Steel at a Smithing Table together with a chestplate to be used.

Tips

Only chestplate-type armor can be upgraded with Shield Cores.

Upgrade Your Chestplate

To upgrade your shield level on a chestplate, you must follow the tier order White → Blue → Purple → Red. Skipping tiers is not allowed.
